Compare cleaning services
Quick answer: Start with the carpet and the job you need done. Check the care instructions, measure each area and tell every provider about stains, furniture and access. Then compare the complete quoted amount for that scope. A lower room rate can still produce a higher small-job total.
Change log and editorial creditsA useful carpet-cleaning quote names the areas, explains the method and tells you what happens if a stain needs extra work. Here we compare Simply Maid with specialist networks, including where another service may suit the job better. Our seven city guides add local providers, published offers and worked buying scenarios.

Behind our figures
Our prices, service records and customer payments measure different things. Use the scope and dates below when comparing them with another provider’s offer.
The examples use the booking calculator and include GST and Care & Cover. They refresh periodically and may retain the last available figures when a data read fails. Confirm your current total in booking. These are service examples, not amounts paid by past customers.
Completed bookings on the former booking platform with a carpet-steam-cleaning label. Carpet work could be an add-on to a home clean. These are booking counts, not unique customers, current availability or standalone carpet prices.
These records identify carpet-cleaning bookings. Each amount covers the whole recorded booking; it is not a separately verified carpet-only payment.

Amounts are Australian dollars. Competitor facts were checked on 13 October 2026; Simply Maid amounts use the current booking rates. A minimum is the lowest applicable visit charge, not a quote for every home. Where GST, room allowances or extras are unclear, obtain the complete amount before booking.

A bedroom count does not identify every carpeted space or its area. Providers can use different room-size bands and methods. Measure each selected space and resolve the allowance before comparing complete totals.
Use the same room list for every quote.
Choose on the confirmed method, scope and local appointment. A national brand name alone does not tell you what a particular operator will charge or include.
Simply Maid may suit you if you want to configure carpet areas and coordinate eligible house cleaning through one booking flow. Our standard service uses hot-water extraction after a suitability check. We do not offer carpet repair, dry cleaning, flood restoration or specialist chemical-treatment packages as part of that service. See our carpet-cleaning scope before choosing it for a difficult stain or delicate rug. If you also need help with the rest of the home, explore Simply Maid house cleaning and confirm the combined work.
Chem-Dry describes a carbonating process, while Drymaster advertises both dry cleaning and extraction. Electrodry offers a low-moisture process, and Jim’s lists several carpet and specialist services. These are useful starting points for an enquiry, not proof that one method will produce a better result in your home. Ask the local operator which process it proposes and why. The provider profiles link to the checked service pages.
Local terms can differ even under a shared name. Electrodry’s Sydney disclosure identifies a separate licensed business. Its Melbourne offers therefore should not be treated as Sydney prices or guarantees.
List bedrooms, living areas, halls and stairs separately. Compare the finished total after the provider has applied its own size allowances, minimum and extras.
For example, imagine three 9m² bedrooms, one 18m² lounge and a 5m² hall. Under our current area allowances, that is three bedroom units, two living-area units and half a hallway unit: 5½ units in total. It is a different scope from a three-bedroom-only offer. Our carpet price guide explains the current allowances and shows booking examples.
Send that same measured list to the other providers. A company using room-size bands needs each room’s dimensions; a three-room promotion needs a separate allowance for the lounge and hall. Ask whether the price changes if the rooms are furnished, need vacuuming or have heavier soil. Do not infer a competitor’s final total when those details are missing.
For a single bedroom, start with the visit minimum. Multiplying a low room rate by one can substantially understate what you will pay. Drymaster’s published minimum is $149 including GST, but its terms still make the final amount dependent on the inspected job. A provider that needs to quote should appear as “quote required”, rather than be assigned a price from another city.
How Simply Maid applies its steam-cleaning minimum. Other providers’ minimums, included work and fees must be confirmed separately.

Simply Maid applies one steam-cleaning service minimum across selected carpet and suitable furnishing units. The minimum replaces a lower selected-work charge; it is not added on top. Fees belong in the full booking total. House cleaning has a separate scope.
Do not add both amounts together.
Choose a suitable process before choosing the cheapest package. The fibre, construction, care instructions and cleaning problem matter more than the label “steam” or “dry”.
“Steam cleaning” commonly describes hot-water extraction. Low-moisture systems also differ from one another, so ask what equipment and cleaning sequence will actually be used. The Carpet Institute’s residential guidance points readers to the manufacturer’s care and warranty requirements and a technician’s assessment when the material is uncertain.
Before accepting a method, share any care label or product details, previous treatment and visible problems such as colour change or loose seams. Ask whether an area rug needs a different process from the installed carpet. A blanket rule that every wool carpet must be dry cleaned is not enough to decide suitability.
Our steam-versus-dry guide explains the methods in more detail. This comparison helps you choose a provider once you know which options are appropriate; it does not replace an assessment of an unknown carpet.
Routine pre-treatment, specialist stain removal and odour work can be separate services. Ask what will be attempted, what may remain and what would cost more.
Tell the provider what was spilled, when it happened and which products you have already applied. Send a clear photograph when possible. If a mark or smell is the main reason for booking, make that part of the accepted scope rather than mentioning it only when the cleaner arrives.
Ask whether contamination may extend below the face of the carpet, whether the proposed service addresses it and whether any follow-up is chargeable. Cleaning does not necessarily reverse colour loss, wear or damage. A promise to treat a mark is different from a guarantee that it will disappear.
Compare package details carefully. Chem-Dry separately describes protection and deodorising options; those should not be assumed to be included in every quote. Simply Maid’s standard carpet service includes ordinary pre-treatment but does not offer specialist deodoriser, sanitiser or stain-protection packages. If a particular treatment is essential, ask a specialist that expressly quotes for it.
Agree which areas will be accessible and how equipment will reach them. Stair access can affect a quote even when you are not paying to clean the stairs themselves.
Make two lists: the small items you will clear and the furniture you expect the cleaner to move. Ask whether the service cleans around beds and sofas or requires them to be moved before arrival. Heavy-furniture handling is outside our standard carpet scope. For a standalone Simply Maid carpet visit, vacuum the areas first; vacuuming is included when it forms part of the booked deep or end-of-lease house clean.
Give every provider the same access information: legal parking, the route to the rooms, floor level, lift arrangements and any loading or building time limit. Confirm whether water and electricity must stay connected. Our visit requires both. If the address has unusual access, resolve it before confirming a date.
The preparation guide gives you a practical checklist. Add any agreed exception to the quote so you can compare the same prepared job across providers.

Steam cleaning covers the selected accessible areas. Heavy furniture moving is not assumed. Include fixed access or room-use deadlines in the booking notes.
Agree what will be accessible before the visit.
An arrival window, cleaning duration and drying period are three different things. Ask when each room can be walked through, furnished and used normally.
A provider’s typical drying range is a planning estimate. Ask which carpet, ventilation and weather assumptions it uses, and whether a different room or stain treatment could take longer. A short advertised drying time should not override the carpet’s required method.
For a move, inspection or furniture delivery, leave time after the appointment to check the work and follow the aftercare instructions. Keep access available long enough to raise a concern. Avoid booking on the assumption that every carpet will be ready at the same hour.
Before paying, ask how quickly a concern must be reported and what a re-clean covers. A re-clean promise may exclude permanent stains or new soiling. Read the applicable provider’s conditions rather than comparing guarantee headlines alone. Our drying and aftercare guide covers planning the room’s return to use.
A useful written quote makes the areas, final amount and treatment limits clear enough that you can compare another offer against it.
Use our quote-comparison guide to work through these with a shortlisted provider. Once you have comparable scopes, decide which service, timing and total best fit the job.
These summaries explain who each advertised offer may suit and what to check. They are not test-clean reviews.

Use the room rate to start an enquiry, then compare the full amount for your measured areas. Minimums, size limits, preparation and treatment vary. A rate for an empty small bedroom does not automatically price a furnished living room.
Confirm it as a separate line in the accepted scope. A carpet add-on price may depend on buying a house clean too. Compare that combined offer with the complete standalone carpet quote, including any minimum and booking fees.
No outcome is guaranteed here. Ask about the particular mark before booking, including any previous treatment. Permanent discolouration or damage can remain after cleaning, and specialist work may need a separate quote.
