Cleaning jobs
Cleaning jobs with Simply Maid
Quick answer: Simply Maid offers house cleaning work in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and the Gold Coast to experienced cleaners, teams and cleaning businesses, as independent contractors. The starting base rate is $45 an hour, paid weekly. You choose your hours and how far you travel, and jobs come to you in the app.
How much work you get depends on bookings near you and the hours you set. You can start with your mobile and email, and your progress saves as you go.
What you earn
The starting base rate is $45 an hour, paid on the cleaning time allocated to each job, in a weekly pay run.
A job allocated three hours pays $135 at the starting rate. Rates rise with your tier as you build a record of completed, on-time, well-rated cleans, up to $48 an hour. Same-day jobs carry a $20 bonus, and long drives earn a drive bonus. Tiers and earnings explains each one.
Amounts are before your business costs and tax. As a contractor you cover your own kit, products, travel and insurance, and there's no paid leave. How much cleaners get paid compares this with award wages and running your own clients.

What you need
At least a year's cleaning experience, an ABN, the right to work in Australia, your own kit, a way to travel with it, and a smartphone.
- Experience. At least a year of cleaning homes. We're looking for people who already clean well and take pride in it.
- An ABN. You work as an independent contractor; a cleaning company applies with its company ABN.
- Your own kit. A vacuum, mop, cloths and cleaning products. See equipment and supplies.
- A way to travel with your kit. The application asks about vehicle access and how far you're willing to travel.
- A smartphone. Jobs, checklists and pay are all in the app.
Application requirements lists everything the application asks for.
Solo, team or cleaning business
You can join on your own, as a team that works together, or as an established cleaning business taking subcontract work.
- Solo cleaners. Bring your experience and work independently.
- Cleaning teams. Work together, with each member registered and checked.
- Cleaning businesses. Set up your company, invite your people, and take on subcontract house cleaning with your company ABN.
The application adapts to how you work. See team and partner work.
What the work is like
Most jobs are regular cleans of the same homes every week, fortnight or four weeks, with deep cleans and end of lease cleans in between.
Simply Maid handles the customer bookings and payment administration, so you spend less time finding customers and chasing invoices. Each job comes with the job details, the service checklist and the customer's notes, and there's a place in the app to ask for help.
The work follows our three services: standard cleaning, deep cleaning and end of lease cleaning.
Is it right for you?
It suits experienced cleaners who want to choose their hours and leave the customer-finding to someone else. It isn't a salaried job.
- You're a contractor, not an employee. You run your own business under the provider agreement, which you read during onboarding before you commit.
- Hours aren't guaranteed. Work depends on bookings near you, your availability and your travel range.
- You bring the kit and cover your own costs.
- Your record matters. Reliability, punctuality and customer ratings decide your tier and your rate.
