Compare carpet cleaning companies in Melbourne (2026)

Quick answer: Measure the rooms before comparing a Melbourne carpet-cleaning rate. A 9m² bedroom unit and a room allowance up to 14m² are different offers. Check the preparation and treatment included, then compare the complete amount and the minimum for your house or apartment.

Change log and editorial credits

Melbourne quotes can use bedroom units, room-size bands or a postcode offer. Labels such as Basic, Deep and dry cleaning can cover different work too. This guide compares five providers against the rooms you actually need cleaned, with particular attention to small jobs and apartment access.

Behind our figures

Our prices, service records and customer payments measure different things. Use the scope and dates below when comparing them with another provider’s offer.

Our carpet record
97 historical carpet bookings in Melbourne, 2018–2024. Compiled 11 October 2026.
How this is measured

Completed bookings on the former booking platform with a carpet-steam-cleaning label. Carpet work could be an add-on to a home clean. These are booking counts, not unique customers, current availability or standalone carpet prices.

Paid by customers
No standalone carpet median Historical combined home-and-carpet totals are not a price for carpet work alone.

A room name is not a measurement. Use the same room list for every quote.

A bedroom count does not identify every carpeted space or its area. Providers can use different room-size bands and methods. Measure each selected space and resolve the allowance before comparing complete totals.

What makes these Melbourne options different?

The shortlist gives you several ways to specify the job: our selected-area booking, local size-based or unit-based offers, and specialist network quotes. Confirm your postcode and date with each one.

Simply Maid uses selected carpet areas and a suitability check before extraction. It may suit a household arranging eligible home cleaning at the same time; our Melbourne house-cleaning page helps you plan that wider job. Doctor Carpet’s checked Melbourne-west price list separates room sizes and treatment levels. Maid to Clean describes approximate bedroom units. Drymaster offers a choice of dry cleaning and extraction, while Electrodry’s Melbourne page describes its low-moisture service.

Choose the shortlist around what you need done, not company size alone. If a delicate rug, repair or specialist stain process is the main job, confirm that the provider expressly accepts it. Those services are outside Simply Maid’s standard carpet scope. The Melbourne service page explains our offer and the details to supply.

A Melbourne service page is evidence of advertised coverage, not a promise of availability at every address. Share your suburb, material, room list and preferred date before comparing appointment options.

A worked example: three small bedrooms

For three empty 9m² bedrooms, compare quotes that include the same preparation and treatment. Identical arithmetic can still buy a different service.

Assume normal soil, easy ground-floor access and rooms that have already been vacuumed. Exclude the hall, lounge, stairs, furniture moving and specialist pet treatment from every quote. Under our current allowances, this is three bedroom units; use the current total in our Melbourne carpet price guide, including the applicable booking fees.

Maid to Clean’s published unit offer gives an advertised calculation of 3 × $55 = $165 for approximately 9m² bedroom units. Doctor Carpet’s small-room Deep rate also produces 3 × $55 = $165 for this size band. Neither calculation establishes an inspected final quote, and the checked pages do not make GST treatment explicit.

Before treating those amounts as equivalent, ask what preparation each includes and whether the particular stains alter the scope. Doctor Carpet also advertises a Basic level with a different cleaning sequence. A lower total for different work is not evidence of a saving on the same service.

Now add an 18m² lounge or a hallway. Each provider needs to apply its own area rule. The original three-bedroom calculation no longer prices the complete job; request an updated total rather than extending the cheapest bedroom rate yourself.

One apartment bedroom: start with the minimum

For a small job, the visit minimum can matter more than the room rate. Check whether an apartment has a different minimum and whether equipment access is additional.

Ask each provider to quote one measured bedroom at the actual address, with the same furniture and preparation assumptions. Doctor Carpet publishes separate standard and apartment minimums; Maid to Clean’s listed minimum is based on two units. The table keeps these conditions beside the amounts so they are not mistaken for interchangeable one-room offers.

Give the provider your floor level, whether a lift can be used, the distance from legal parking and any building access window. Ask whether the planned equipment suits that route. A quoted carpet-stair service and a charge for carrying equipment upstairs are separate items, so have both identified if applicable.

Do not assume a small floor area guarantees a short visit or a slot on your preferred day. Confirm the access arrangements before accepting the final amount and appointment.

How Simply Maid applies its steam-cleaning minimum. Other providers’ minimums, included work and fees must be confirmed separately.

A minimum is a floor, not an extra. Do not add both amounts together.

Simply Maid applies one steam-cleaning service minimum across selected carpet and suitable furnishing units. The minimum replaces a lower selected-work charge; it is not added on top. Fees belong in the full booking total. House cleaning has a separate scope.

Compare the cleaning steps behind the package name

Ask whether the quote includes vacuuming, pre-spray, agitation, stain treatment and extraction. “Basic” and “Deep” are provider labels, not a shared industry specification.

Doctor Carpet’s checked list distinguishes a Basic vacuum-and-rinse sequence from a Deep option with additional preparation. That distinction matters if a spill or heavily used walkway is the reason you are booking. Describe it before accepting the lower-scope option.

For Simply Maid, inspection, ordinary pre-treatment and extraction form the standard carpet scope. Vacuum before a standalone carpet visit; a booked deep or end-of-lease house clean includes its vacuuming step. Specialist sanitiser, deodoriser and stain-protection packages are not part of our offer. Confirm a suitable specialist if one of those is essential.

Decide who clears small items and whether furniture will be cleaned around or moved. Maid to Clean’s service details distinguish small objects from heavy furniture, and standalone vacuuming can be additional. Ask for those choices in the quote.

Photograph difficult marks and name anything already applied. Ask what can reasonably be improved and whether any remaining mark would qualify for a re-clean. No comparison here promises that cleaning repairs worn fibres or removes every stain.

Prepare the route and the room. Agree what will be accessible before the visit.

Steam cleaning covers the selected accessible areas. Heavy furniture moving is not assumed. Include fixed access or room-use deadlines in the booking notes.

Choose the method, then plan the room’s return to use

A shorter advertised drying time is useful only if the method suits your carpet and the drying estimate fits the conditions in your home.

Start with the care instructions and material. The Carpet Institute’s residential guide supports using the manufacturer’s requirements and an appropriate pre-clean assessment. Do not choose wet or dry cleaning solely from a general claim about wool or a package name.

Electrodry’s Melbourne page advertises a typical one-to-two-hour drying range for its process. Treat that as its estimate, not a tested comparison with every extraction service. Ask what the cleaner expects for your rooms and what could extend it.

For a move-out clean, leave time to inspect the work, follow aftercare instructions and raise a concern while you still have access. The cleaning visit and the room’s drying period should both fit before the handover. Our drying guide helps you plan those steps.

Send the same job description to each Melbourne provider

A short, consistent enquiry makes differences in the offers easier to spot before an appointment is booked.

  • Give the address, room measurements and whether each room is empty or furnished.
  • List halls, living areas, landings and stairs separately.
  • Describe the carpet material, care instructions and any stains or odours.
  • State whether you will vacuum and clear the areas first.
  • Explain parking, floor level, lift access and building time limits.
  • Ask for the final GST-inclusive amount, including the minimum and access costs.
  • Confirm the proposed method, treatment limits and expected drying guidance.
  • Ask who handles concerns and the deadline for reporting one.

If you also need a house clean, request the combined scope and compare it with separate appointments. A bundle price can carry conditions; Simply Maid does not promise a bundle discount here. Our Melbourne house-cleaning comparison helps with that separate choice.

Questions before you choose

Why do Melbourne carpet cleaners count the same home differently?

Some use approximate bedroom units; others set room-size bands or a maximum area. Living rooms, halls and stairs can count differently. Measure each area and ask the provider to show its count on the quote.

Does a Melbourne apartment always cost more to clean?

There is no universal apartment surcharge in this comparison. Some providers publish a separate apartment minimum or an access charge. Describe your building and ask for the complete amount before booking.

Is dry cleaning the right choice for every wool carpet?

The fibre label alone does not decide the method. Supply the manufacturer’s care information and let the provider assess construction, condition and the work required. Use a specialist if the standard service is unsuitable.

Can carpet cleaning and an end-of-lease clean be coordinated?

Yes, where the provider supports both services and a suitable appointment. Confirm the carpet method, areas, preparation and who attends as part of the written scope. An end-of-lease house-cleaning price does not automatically include carpets.
