How much does carpet cleaning cost in Canberra?
Simply Maid charges $60 for each bedroom or study up to 12 m², GST included; a living room counts as two of those, a hallway as half and a flight of stairs as one and a half. A $150 minimum applies once, so one bedroom totals $160 with the booking fee. Other Canberra providers we checked advertise $29.70–$49.50 a room, usually with their own minimum. How long until I can walk on the carpet and put furniture back?
It depends on the fibre, how wet the carpet needed to be, airflow and the weather, so your cleaner tells you on the day rather than us promising a fixed number of hours. Open windows or run fans where you can, keep pets and shoes off, and wait until the carpet is dry to the touch before furniture goes back. The cleaner time in the calculator is the visit itself; drying continues after it.

Ask which minimum applies to your selected work, whether the rate requires a house-cleaning package and which method is included. Confirm current terms directly. Do not compare a conditional bundled rate with Simply Maid's standalone checkout total and call the difference a saving.

List the rooms even when the home will be empty
An empty property can still contain different carpeted areas: bedrooms, living spaces, passages and stairs. Measure open-plan or oversized spaces and ask how they count. Empty does not mean every room has the same allowance.
For a hypothetical move-out with two bedrooms and a living room selected, Simply Maid counts four standard units before any hallway or stair selection. Use the current table to check those allowances and the live examples to understand the minimum and fees. It is an example scope, not a Canberra average.

Put access and the handover deadline in writing
Record when the cleaner can enter, how entry is arranged and when the keys must be returned. Keep water and power available. If a building limits lift or loading access, explain those constraints before selecting an appointment.
The quoted working time and the time the carpet needs to dry are separate. A tight deadline should be discussed as a scheduling constraint, not solved by assuming a faster drying time or choosing the lowest rate.

For an ACT rental, consult the ACT Renting Book and the condition records. A business may advertise across a wider region, but a service-area description does not make ACT and NSW tenancy requirements interchangeable.
If the property is in NSW, use NSW guidance when establishing any carpet-cleaning requirement. Then ask for a quote against the agreed work. Neither the invoice nor the package name determines the legal obligation.
