A spring clean clears what builds up over a closed-up winter: grease in the kitchen, scale and soap scum in the bathroom, and dust along the edges and up high. Tell us about build-up and sensitive surfaces before the visit.

  • Skirting boards, door frames and rangehood
  • A detailed clean for a furnished home

Plan a little access for the extra detail: empty the appliances and cupboards you’d like cleaned. Interior window glass is an optional extra.

SPRING CLEAN, EXPLAINED

What is a spring clean?

A spring clean is a once-a-year, top-to-bottom clean of the whole home. We book it as our deep clean: everything in a standard clean, plus the inside of the oven, fridge, kitchen cupboards and dishwasher, the rangehood filters, tile grout, skirting boards, door frames, ceiling fans and window tracks.

Inclusions come from the checklist our cleaners work through on every visit of that service, and the extras offered in booking. Prices are AUD per visit from our booking calculator, including GST and the Care & Cover fee, for a home that has been kept on top of, with no extras or discount code. Prices are the same in every city we serve. Time booked is for one cleaner; a team of two shares it, so they are on site for about half as long. Regrouting, sealing, mould removal and exterior windows are not part of any clean.

When should you book a spring clean?

In Australia, spring runs from September to November, and that’s when most people think about a spring clean. It works at any time of year, whenever the home needs more than an everyday clean.

  • After winter

Clear the grease, scale and dust that build up while the windows stay shut.

  • Before the holidays

Get the inside of the oven and fridge done before Christmas cooking and guests.

  • Before a regular plan

A spring clean sets the baseline, then standard cleans keep it there.

  • Moving out? Book end of lease

An empty rental needs the end of lease clean, which adds interior windows, inside wardrobes and walls.

GOOD TO KNOW BEFOREHAND

Outside the usual scope

Mould removal, hazardous waste, heavy lifting, high-reach areas and chandeliers aren’t part of these domestic cleans. Repairs, pest control and gardening need separate arrangements.

Carpet steam cleaning isn’t part of our cleans and isn’t offered in booking; vacuuming is included. If your lease asks for a professional carpet clean, book a carpet cleaner and keep the receipt.

Regrouting, sealing, exterior windows and other specialist work aren’t part of our cleans. A balcony, patio or garage can be added as an extra; ask the team about anything else before booking.

Extras, and what a spring clean doesn’t include

Interior window glass, blinds, wall washing (every wall in a room, beyond the mark spot-cleaning included), a load of laundry (washed, dried and folded), a balcony or patio and the garage can be added. Mould removal, regrouting or sealing, exterior windows and carpet steam cleaning aren’t part of a spring clean.

BEFORE WE ARRIVE

How to prepare for a spring clean

No need to clean first. Clear the spaces you want cleaned inside, so the time goes on cleaning rather than moving things.

  • Fridge and oven

Move the food in your fridge onto one shelf or into a cooler bag, and take anything stored in the oven out, so both can be cleaned inside.

  • Cupboards and drawers

Empty the kitchen cupboards and drawers you want cleaned inside, or tell us which ones to do.

  • Benches and surfaces

Put away what you can, so the surfaces underneath can be reached.

  • Build-up and delicate surfaces

Mention heavy grease, stone or timber benchtops and anything delicate in your booking notes.

  • Access, parking and pets

Add entry instructions if you won’t be home, arrange parking and keep pets secured.

YOUR HOME, YOUR CLEAN

Takes about a minute. Nothing is booked or paid at this step.

How long does a spring clean take?

We book 3h 43m of cleaner time for a 2 bed, 1 bath home in good condition. Across 63 deep cleans on our current platform, the median took 4h 46m of cleaner time. A team of two shares that time, so they’re on site for about half as long.

Booked time for a home that has been kept on top of, with no extras. A home that needs more attention, and extras, add time. The total labour is the same whether one cleaner or a team does it, and so is the price; a team simply finishes sooner. Measured: on 63 deep cleans with check-in and check-out times in our cleaner app (since our current booking platform began in April 2026), the median was 4h 46m of cleaner time, and the middle half took 3h 35m to 6h 44m. That is total cleaner time across the team, for homes of every size.

About these figures

These figures describe recorded completed deep cleans across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and 4 more cities, including historical bookings. Repeat visits count separately, so this counts cleans rather than homes. Your own address and date are checked when you book. Older bookings are grouped by the service they most closely match. Booking amounts for completed deep cleans in the last 24 months are taken from the 209 visits that carry an amount; payments have not been reconciled for this summary. A quarter recorded under $270 and a quarter recorded over $450. Figures are rounded down to the nearest $10 and combine home sizes and frequencies. This is a record of past bookings, not a price list. Home sizes use the 5,355 records that carry a bedroom count; hourly bookings carry none. City percentages use all visits in these records.

“Tshering is amazing but the Simplymaid system seems to be out of sync with the review prompts. I hope this is not impacting his payments too. I will send a separate email about future bookings as our requirements have changed but we are very happy to have Tshering continue attending for us in the future.”

SPRING CLEANING QUESTIONS

Questions people ask about a spring clean

Ask us anything
01How much does it cost to spring clean a house?

A spring clean is priced as our deep clean, from $329. A 2 bed, 1 bath home is about $361. The price depends on the size of the home, its condition and any extras, and you see it before you book.

02What month do people do spring cleaning?

In Australia, spring is September, October and November, so most people spring clean then. Northern-hemisphere articles say March to May, which is autumn here.

03Is a spring clean the same as a deep clean?

Yes. With us a spring clean is our deep clean, booked for the season. If you want the same clean at another time of year, book a deep clean.

04Do I need to be home for a spring clean?

No. Add entry instructions to your booking if you won’t be home, and keep pets secured.

Questions about a spring clean

A few things
you might be wondering.

Ask us anything
01How is Deep different from Standard?
Deep adds the inside of the oven, fridge, kitchen cupboards and dishwasher, plus grout, skirting boards, door frames, ceiling fans and rangehood filters. See the room-by-room list above. Interior window glass is an optional extra; carpet steam cleaning isn’t offered.
02Is this a mould or specialist grout treatment?
No. A deep clean includes scrubbing tile grout with a specialty cleaner, but not mould removal, regrouting or sealing. If you’re unsure whether a surface needs a specialist, ask the team before booking.
03How is the price worked out?
The price uses your service, home size, cleaning condition, frequency, extras and applicable fees. The estimate above includes mandatory fees and GST for its stated assumptions. Confirm your address, date and final itemised price in booking.
04Do I need to supply products or equipment?
Cleaning supplies and equipment are included in the published service information. If you need a particular product or have a sensitive surface, confirm with the team before the visit. We don’t make blanket claims that every product is suitable for every household.
05What if I need to change my booking?
Use your customer account to view or reschedule your booking, or get help from the team. Cancellation or change fees may apply under the booking terms; review these before confirming a change.

Keeping it fresh after a spring clean

Book standard cleans to hold the result; fortnightly suits most homes. To keep the deep detail going, a deep clean every four weeks is 10% off each visit.
