Quick answer: Carpet steam cleaning starts at $60 per standard bedroom unit, with a $150 service minimum. These service rates include GST; the worked examples below include booking fees too. Book carpets on their own, or add them to a deep or end-of-lease clean. Count living rooms, hallways and stairs separately.
A room price is only useful when you know how large a room can be, what the minimum covers and what the final total includes. This guide keeps those details together.

How much does carpet steam cleaning cost per room?
A bedroom or study counts as one unit, a living or large room as two, a hallway as half a unit and a flight of stairs as one and a half. Add the areas, then apply the carpet minimum once to the combined carpet service.

How much do sofa, mattress and upholstery extras cost?
Each furnishing has a unit allowance, priced through the same booking calculator. Sofa seat and back cushions are included with the sofa; loose scatter cushions are separate. Add the selected carpet and furnishing units together and apply the steam-cleaning minimum once.

Mattress prices cover one accessible sleeping surface and edges. Rugs must be suitable synthetic fibres. Your cleaner checks the care label and suitability before wet cleaning. Leather, dry-clean-only fabrics and delicate natural-fibre rugs require a different service. Sanitiser, deodoriser and stain-protection packages are not offered at this stage.
What would my carpet cleaning booking cost?
These are current calculator examples for the carpet service alone. They include GST and the booking fee, without a coupon or same-day surcharge. They are examples of specified rooms, not an average Australian home.

Adding carpet cleaning to a house clean produces one combined booking. Use that combined quote: adding two standalone checkout totals would count booking fees twice.
Why is there a minimum charge?
The $150 minimum covers a small carpet service even when the selected areas add up to less. Equipment still needs to be brought in, set up and packed away. The same carpet minimum applies when booking on its own or with a deep or end-of-lease clean.
A minimum is not an extra charge on top of the room total. Once your room total exceeds it, the room total applies. Only book areas that need cleaning; adding rooms to use the minimum still creates work and must be selected.
What is included, and what costs extra?
The carpet service covers inspection of the selected accessible carpet areas, professional hot-water extraction with suitable equipment and products, and drying and aftercare advice. Your cleaner checks suitability before wet cleaning.
Sofas, mattresses, cushions, chairs, ottomans, headboards and suitable synthetic rugs are separately selected extras. Carpet repairs, mould remediation, leather, dry-clean-only fabrics, chemical-treatment packages and moving heavy furniture are excluded. General house cleaning is separate. Tell us about pet accidents, delicate fibres, damage, stains and access restrictions in advance; permanent stains and odours cannot be guaranteed to disappear.
How should I prepare the rooms?
Remove loose belongings and small items from the areas to be cleaned. Describe furniture that will remain, arrange access to water and power, and tell us about stairs, lifts and parking before the appointment.
For a standalone booking, vacuum the selected areas first. Deep and end-of-lease house cleaning includes vacuuming. Confirm any extra preparation with us before the visit so the cleaner has an accurate scope and time allowance.
Can I add carpet cleaning to a deep or end-of-lease clean?
Yes. In booking, choose professionally steam cleaned carpets and enter your carpeted bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and stairs. Vacuuming alone stays part of the house-cleaning checklist. Carpet steam cleaning is an optional extra, not automatically included in a deep or end-of-lease price.
It is also available as a standalone service. The regular-cleaning selection does not include this extra. If you have a regular clean and need carpets done, arrange a separate carpet booking. Upholstery and mattress extras can be selected in the same booking, with one steam-cleaning minimum across the selected areas and items.
How long does carpet steam cleaning take?
Our booking system allocates 40 cleaner-minutes per unit, with 100 cleaner-minutes for the minimum service. This is a scheduling allowance, including the work involved in the carpet booking; it is not a measured average of completed carpet jobs.
Actual time depends on access, room layout, carpet condition and the equipment used. Drying continues after the cleaner leaves and is not included in the booked working time. Ask the cleaner for advice for your carpet and conditions; allow the carpet to dry before replacing furniture or walking on it unnecessarily.
How do I compare carpet cleaning quotes fairly?
Compare the final total for the same areas and treatment, not the smallest advertised room price. Ask for room-size limits, how stairs and landings count, the minimum, GST, booking fees, vacuuming, stain treatment, furniture handling and access costs in writing.
A bedroom-only offer does not price the lounge and hallway automatically. A membership price should be compared with its joining cost and conditions. A low advertised price may be a starting price; ask what could change it after inspection. We do not treat unlike packages as evidence that one company is cheaper.

Our previous platform recorded carpet steam cleaning as an extra. The historical evidence below describes recorded bookings and demand, not today's rates or carpet-only amounts paid.

A booking is one completed visit. A quantity such as ‘3 × Carpet Steam Clean’ is one booking with an extra, not three completed jobs. The previous move-in/move-out package cannot reliably distinguish tenants moving out from customers moving in.
How can I keep the cost down?
Measure and select only the areas that need cleaning, remove loose items and prepare access before the visit. Check the combined booking total if you also need a deep or end-of-lease clean.
We do not promise a bundle discount or a lower fixed price because a room has less furniture. The useful saving is avoiding duplicate services, misunderstood room allowances and work that was not included in the original quote.

Is steam cleaning the same as vacuuming?
No. Vacuuming removes loose surface debris. This service uses professional hot-water extraction to clean suitable carpet fibres and extract the cleaning solution. Vacuuming alone does not book a carpet steam clean.
Is GST included?
The listed carpet service rates include GST. Our worked examples include booking fees as well. Your booking displays the itemised total before you confirm.
Do hallways and stairs count as rooms?
They have their own weights: a hallway is half a unit and a flight of stairs is one and a half units, within the displayed size limits. Count them separately from bedrooms and living rooms.
What if I only need one bedroom cleaned?
You can select one standard bedroom. The $150 carpet service minimum applies, followed by the booking fees shown in your quote.
Can you remove every stain or pet smell?
No result can be guaranteed for every stain or odour. Share details before booking. Permanent damage, dye changes and contamination beneath the carpet may require work outside this service.
Will you move my furniture?
Heavy furniture moving is excluded. Clear loose belongings and small items beforehand, and tell us what furniture will stay so we can agree the accessible areas.
Can I book sofa or mattress cleaning too?
Yes. Choose suitable fabric sofas, chairs, cushions, mattresses, ottomans, headboards and synthetic rugs in the furnishings step. You can book furnishings without carpet areas. One steam-cleaning minimum applies across the selected areas and items. Your cleaner checks fabric suitability before cleaning; leather and dry-clean-only materials are excluded.
Does every end-of-lease clean need carpet steam cleaning?
It is not automatically included in our house-cleaning package. Requirements depend on your situation. Check your condition report, agreement and current state tenancy guidance rather than assuming every rental must receive the same treatment.
Are your historical figures today's carpet prices?
No. They count old-platform bookings that recorded carpet steam cleaning. Their whole-booking totals and combined Extras Total do not isolate a carpet-only charge.

How we worked out these figures
Current Simply Maid prices are read from the same pricing engine used by booking. Room rates and scheduling allowances are shown separately from worked checkout totals, which include GST and booking fees. Examples assume a one-off service with no same-day surcharge. Carpet steam cleaning is excluded from general cleaning coupons. An unavailable calculator is labelled as unavailable; we do not substitute an old price.
Historical figures come from the Launch27 export matched to production booking IDs, completed visits only. Carpet labels are counted once per booking. The move-in/move-out subset uses the existing pricing study's comma-level extra parsing, excluding items merely named inside a package's inclusion list. Historical shares need at least 30 eligible visits. We do not infer a carpet price from the whole booking or its combined extras total, and imported formula-based durations are not measured time. Market observations retain their original scope, location, source and check date. Editorial updates, live price checks and history computation dates are separate.
